Speaking of headaches, we must, first, that headache (headache) evolve through crises.
(You must have “at least five attacks in your life” before considering this diagnosis).
Other conditions are also necessary:
* Crisis will last from 4 to 72 hours without treatment;
* Migraine headaches must have at least two of the four following characteristics:
– No pain on one side of the head (unilateral),
– pulsatile (sensation of heart beating in my head),
– moderate to severe,
– aggravated by physical effort even usual (such as climbing stairs);
* At least one other sign must be associated with headache or digestive disorders with nausea and / or vomiting, a heightened sensitivity to light (photophobia) and noise (phonophobia).
Triggers
If the cause of migraine remains mysterious mechanisms that cause the crisis are becoming better known.
Three “actors” are involved in the onset of the crisis: a nerve called the trigeminal nerve, the brain and its vessels.
Under the influence of poor activation of the trigeminal nerve, the brain sends the wrong information to the vessels of the meninges (coverings of the brain) and its major arteries. Then observed a secretion of substances which cause inflammation and dilation of blood vessels (vasodilation). These two phenomena that cause pain.
