Hypotension - Orthostatic Hypotension

Hypotension is characterized as its name indicates a low voltage. It speaks of hypotension when the systolic pressure is below 100 mm Hg (= 10 cm mercury) instead of 120 to 140mm of mercury for a normal voltage.
There is rarely a serious illness and hypotension can sometimes be beneficial to the cardiovascular system because the heart is less “tired” in cases of hypertension, for example.

However in rare cases of hypotension can be a symptom of a disease or serious condition as a state of shock or heart attack. Danc these cases it is a medical emergency.

Orthostatic hypotension
A common type of hypotension is orthostatic hypotension, hypotension that occurs when one passes quickly from a sitting to standing

The main causes of hypotension, although not yet fully known, may be:

> a dehydration (resulting from diarrhea or gastroenteritis for example)
> A predisposition (genetic) to have a low voltage. Note: in this case it is not a point always negative (for positive effect on the cardiovascular system)
> Serious injuries, internal bleeding, allergy, a snakebite, heart … we speak in these cases of acute hypotension and it is a medical emergency.
> Pregnancy
> Problems with the thyroid gland (hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism)
> Liver problems

Causes of orthostatic hypotension
As noted in definition, passing suddenly from a lying or sitting to standing can lead to orthostatic hypotension
This orthostatic hypotension may result from a side effect of antidepressants or antihypertensives (logic). Other causes can also cause orthostatic hypotension as diabetes.

It can be of hypotension without showing obvious symptoms, but here are classic symptoms and visible during hypotension:

> Fatigue (chronic) with some weakness
> Vertigo
> Loss of consciousness (syncope)
> Nausea
> Tinnitus

The first thing to do is try to treat the cause of hypotension, such as whether it is due to medication, try changing treatment by talking with your doctor if it is caused by diabetes, he will treat this metabolic disease, etc..

However the doctor or pharmacist may have drugs or vasoconstrictors known as hypertensive

We have not heard of medicinal plants to treat hypotension.
However, a natural remedy is to drink plenty of broth, if somewhat salty possible (we know that salt promotes hypertension in this case positive).
