An estimated 15 percent of women over age 50 have osteoporosis, due in part to estrogens regulate the process of destruction of old bone and new generation, but on reaching menopause lost his balance and dismisses much of the bone that is generated.

Hip surgery can be successful, but between 30 and 40 percent of people left disabled and between 10 and 20 percent die during the year following the fracture.

To reduce the risk of osteoporosis, the ideal is to have a diet rich in calcium during youth, and if this is no longer possible, we can use calcium supplements under medical supervision, as only the specialist can determine if needed.
